Taking God For Granted
Recently, I’ve been processing through my feelings for someone new in my life. It’s led me take a deeper look at my relationship with God, and I’ve realized I’ve been taking God for granted.
When times are good, or at least not blowing up in my face, it’s so easy to go about my daily life and not focus on God. There’s a lot that I can do on my own and so when everything is ok it’s much easier to just lean on myself than to build a relationship with God.
It’s often easier for me to lean on God more when life is hard, when I don’t think I’ll make it through. These times are often times that I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I can’t make it through without him, but it leaves our relationship lacking. I can’t imagine being in a relationship with someone where they only come to me when it’s a situation they can’t handle, and that’s what I’ve been doing to God recently.
We’re called to be in a relationship with God and that means being focused on, talking with and listening to him regularly – not just when we need him.
