Janet’s hometown is Salem, VA. Through a crazy turn of events and living in three states (VA, GA and OH) within a 9-month period, she returned home to Salem in 2008. In 2018, she retired from her Insurance Broker Career to complete seminary classes through the Wesleyan Church and was ordained in 2020. Currently, she serves as an Assistant Pastor over Christian Education at Emmanuel Wesleyan.
Her passion is for all ages from children through adulthood to study the Word of God and place their ordinary life before God as an offering, living a transformed life because God changes us from the inside out.
She understands that one invitation can change a person’s path. It was in Atlanta GA, where she lived for 20 years, that one invitation changed her life course. She entered a Church where over 500 women were studying the Book of Romans together at Bible Study Fellowship. It was during the study of Romans 12 and deep in despair, that she gave her heart to Jesus in April 2000. She experienced forgiveness for all the choices she could not undo, and she found the One Who could redeem her. She experienced the most incredible, trustworthy, forgiving and loving friend ever, Jesus Christ, and she spends her life now, serving and worshipping Him.
Romans 12:1-2 (Message) – So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Through her One source of strength, she has overcome addictions, and received abundant blessings. Join us at our Prayer Retreat as we discover how serious prayer is the answer to becoming a living display of what God can conduct through a willing, surrendered heart.
